Now that you have Andrew Garfield as your new friendly neighbourhood superhero, who’s going to land the coveted role of Mary Jane Watson in Sony’s new Spider-Man reboot film?

Emma Stone, the gorgeous redhead who shot to fame with scene-stealing turns in Zombieland and Easy A, was reportedly offered the role by the studio, according to a Deadline report.

Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst previously portrayed Peter Parker and Watson respectively in the last three Spider-Man films directed by Sam Reimi.

Kirsten Dunst portrayed Mary Jane Watson in the three Spider-Man films before this.

Also rumoured to be running for the role of MJ was Mia Wasikowska, the star of Alice in Wonderland.

Let’s also not forget another important female role – Gwen Stacey, Spidey’s other love interest.

In what was another piece of exciting news, Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was reportedly offered a part in the new flick.

500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb will helm the film. Shooting will begin end of this year, as the film is slated for a July 2012 release.
