Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Tops Weekend Box Office



Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides topped the weekend box office. On Friday, Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz's adventure flick pulled in $35 million in the U.S. and Canada. The film earned an additional $32 million on Saturday. Worldwide, the film earned $256.3 million, making it the biggest international opening ever. Kristen Wiig's R-rated comedy Bridesmaids came in second place at box office, pulling in $6.4 million on Friday and $8.2 million on Saturday. Chris Hemsworth's action film Thor came into its third weekend in third place at the box office, earning $15.5 million. The family film Rio was the fourth-highest weekend earner, followed by Priest 3D and Jumping the Broom. Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin's romantic comedy Something Borrowed pulled in only $3.4 million this weekend.
